First Build!
Orbs! is the result of me deciding over new years that I need to get more comfortable shipping VR software.
I have a tonne of ambitious tech demos / foundational tech I've been building for PCVR, but it's all just a bit too long term to get out there for people to really enjoy. So I decided to take what I've learned building things for high end PCs and use it to really push standalone hardware to its limits, and create some delightful little physics toys while I'm at it.
This is the first of hopefully many such toys, but it's not done yet! I've been building it in my spare time the last 3 weeks, and I was just having so much fun playtesting it that I wanted to share it for people to try. I'll be refining the simulation, polishing the rendering, and adding lots of fun gizmos and gadgets to play around with. If you would give it a try and let me know what you think I'd really appreciate it.
Orbs! is also a bit of a testing ground the the "engine" (probably toolkit is more apt, it's tiny) I'm building alongside it to get more comfortable doing C programming, and VR programming in general. On the Quest 3 (which is my current hardware target) I'm simulating 20000 balls at 240FPS and rendering them at 120FPS, not using big bulky engines can be a real boon!
Anyway, hope you all enjoy the game :)
